Latin American Comedy Tour - A tribute to Colombia

After my tour, I took the time to visit family and check out the beauty that Colombia had to offer.

La Chiva - Originally used to transport farmers and their goods is now and has been used for some time as a tour bus to see the different city attractions throughout the country. It is also used in the night life of native Colombians as a way to drink and party without having to drive. These buses usually have live bands in the back two seats while stopping at different night/dance clubs, dropping off and picking people up.

Latin American Comedy Tour

Latin American Comedy Tour

Although this was my first comedy tour abroad, I have to say it felt like home. The food, culture and language were something I was very familiar with. From the Mountain tops of Costa Rica, the Valleys of Colombia, to the country side of Chile and Argentina, South America continues to be one of the world's most beautiful, cultural and exciting places to visit.

The characters of "When Bobby Met Larry"

"When Bobby Met Larry" is a film that is not only funny because of the dialogue, but also because of the characters which seem to posses a very animated and fun quality. Meet the characters of "When Bobby Met Larry".....

Giuseppe

Giuseppe plays Bobby's grandfather who tries to school him about becoming more confident and getting a WOMAN! As any paternal role model, Giuseppe wants Bobby to be happy and feel secure when it comes to the ladies. It is bobby's awkward and uptight ways that concern Giuseppe. It is at this very restaurant where Giuseppe tries to teach Bobby how to get a young lady's attention, which of course for Bobby gets twisted up and lost in translation.

Rosa

Meet RRRRosa! She is vivacious, spontaneous and electric! Here I brought all of the fun aspects of the Latin stereotype into play. Her personality is as vibrant as her clothing. She not only is a waitress, but knows every single regular costumer. Although very attentive to her costumers and a delight to interact with, she has no patcience when it comes to Will and his impoliteness. She is as sassy as Larry in her own right. She has an answer for everything and although posesses a warm heart, if you rub her the wrong way, she will most definitely let you know.

Larry

Larry is not only flamboyant in his way of dressing, but even in his physical appearance. When developing the physical aspects of this particular character, we found out that an over bearing chin is a sign of confidence and even a sign of someone who cheats. Here I thought all along that people who cheated were insecure! HA! Well, not so in this case. Larry is definitely over confident and has an ego as big as his chin. Although somewhat cocky, he has a playful and vibrant personality and often dines at this restaurant where he develops a friendship with the waitress Rosa. His favorite line is "Oh girl, pleeeease"

Will

Will is a cook at the restaurant. His favorite line is "Gabriel Ramsey ain't got nuttin' on me!" Although he is great at dicing and splicing in the kitchen, Will's knife is much more sharper than he could ever be. With a short temper and crazy attitude, Will is the quintessential character to set up punchlines and help drive other characters that interact with him such as Rosa. He also often complains a lot, especially being all greased up and hot in the kitchen.

Bobby

As shown above in the bright yellow shirt with plaid pants, Bobby is an awkward but likable guy. He is quirky, nerdy and at times very shy. It is his unusual relationship with his grandfather Giuseppe and his even bizarre relationship later established with Larry that makes you wonder what is going on with Bobby? I kept this character as simple in comparison to the others because he his very simplistic and almost child like in his ways. More gullible than a 7 year old, Bobby although shy and awkward also has a trusting quality.

"When Bobby Met Larry"

I have been working on various films. One of which I am proud to say is my very own!!! Titled "When Bobby Met Larry" (hence the title of this blog) is a short comedy about five interesting characters that somehow meet and affect one another in MANY ways. Although the actual concept was developed many years ago, it wasn't until this last year that everything came together.

"When Bobby Met Larry" involves five principal characters: Bobby, Guiseppi, Rosa, Will and of course Larry! It defines the importance that exists in the bond we must have with different generations in our families, while focusing on the hilarity of those differences. Combined with the uptight, prude and gullible character of Bobby and the eccentric and flamboyant gay and confident character of Larry brings us to the conclusion that opposites do indeed attract....or do they?

From Will's crazy outrageous outbursts in the kitchen to Rosa's sassy, confident and snappy remarks this is a short comedy which is definitely not at all "short" of being FUNNY and very entertaining!

Directed by Phil Coccioletti, co-directed by Jessica Hester and produced by SugarCamp Films. Written and performed by Carlos A. Gonzalez. Key SPFX make-up artist and character art director Meagan Hester.

IT'S HOT!!!!

Hope you had a kick ass fourth!!! Just like the past few days, my professional career has been pretty "CALIENTE". I am currently working on my very own production which consists of 5 strong characters I have developed in the course of two years. Although I will be performing each character; this short film consists of a collaboration of different talents besides myself. I have connected with some fabulous and very talented people in the industry who believe in me and are also eagered to make this idea come to life. As we come closer to shooting this production and details are ironed out, I will mention the key players. As of now I am working with my artistic director and SPFX make-up artist Meagan Hester who has numerous accomplishments in film and television under her belt. She will undoubtedly help me bring these characters to life. These characters among others will also be featured live in my one man show titled "A One Night Stand with Carlos Gonzalez", coming in 2011.

Stay tuned as I will be discussing my debut on the big screen opposite Luis Antonio Ramos and Kate Del Castillo in "The Miracle of Spanish Harlem"(promo furnished below). I'll also mention my debut on my first music video for the song "AMAZING", which I co- wrote and collaborated with producer, lyricist and song writer Melo and R&B artist Marlon Febres. This specific song has received lots of radio play in some parts of Latin America, Europe and Puerto Rico. This was produced by The MVPz and is my debut as a lyrical artist. This is a club beat track mixed to some very hip, sexy and of course funny bi-lingial lyrics. How can a song be both sexy and funny? I guess you'll just have to check it out for yourself!!

Thanks for tuning in!!! May you arrive at extraordinary places and take evolutionary steps!
